Updating Our SFC Analytical Instrumentation
We are very excited about the newest upgrade to our lab, the Agilent 1260 Infinity II SFC/MS for our analytical chiral work! Due to the increasing demand for our chiral analytical and purification work we needed to increase our efficiency and productivity. Installing the SFC/MS allows us to shorten the cycle times of our screening methods and increase the productivity by screening mixtures of compounds and using the mass spec to analyze the data. This enables one screening run to give information for two to three samples at the same time. The stable baseline and high detector sensitivity provide high quality data and improved accuracy for enantiomeric/diastereomeric excess determination.

Since working with the Agilent 1260 Infinity II, our Senior Scientist Eric Carlson has this to say about the instrumentation: “We spend less time setting up analytical runs, freeing up more time for data review and analysis resulting in better and more robust methods for chiral analysis and preparative chiral separations.”

Purification Tip of the Month:
If your compounds contain carboxylic acid and were purified by acidic reversed phase method, avoid using methanol as the reformatting solvent because of methyl ester formation. We recommend using acetonitrile instead.
